An Investment in Powerboating for a Cure is an Investment of Hampton Roads without Children with Threatening Illnesses & Terminal Cancer.

The Mid Atlantic Powerboating Association, Inc. also known as "MAPA" is a group of powerboat enthusiasts from Southeast Virginia, who in 2009 began to organize and promote poker runs, as well as other boating related events, that benefit various local and national charities. MAPA is run completely by volunteers and is qualified as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization.

At the heart of the 12^th Powerboating for a Cure is our commitment to EDMARC. They are the safety net in the home for our kids in Hampton Roads who are fighting threatening illnesses and cancer. EDMARC is the “hope” for the journey. They provide professional support in Patient & Family Support, Nursing Assistance, Perinatal Support, and Bereavement. Powerboating for a Cure, and all the events surrounding it, help us make a difference in the lives of children and their families when it is needed most. In addition to SGK and AGC, in 2014, the participants donated $5,700 to Grayson Kirby, a participant for many years who was severely injured in a car accident just prior to the event. To date, we have donated over $400,000 to Breast Cancer and Cancer Research, and $55,000 to the AGC Scholarship Fund for Workforce Development. We are looking forward to this, our initial year, with EDMARC, as our designated Charity. Come join us in 2023 for an outstanding year of giving to EDMARC.
